Petrol price to rise at midnight

This is according to the Department of Energy.

The petrol price is set to rise tomorrow by between eight and eleven cents per litre. Diesel will go up by between 41 and 42 cents per litre.

This is according to the Department of Energy.

Illuminating paraffin will go up by 43 cents per litre and the price of gas will rise by 12 cents per kilogram.

A higher oil price and an increase in the price of petroleum products on international markets are said to be the main reasons for the fuel price increase.

The firmer rand somewhat limited the extent of the increase. According to the Department of Energy, “The strengthening of the rand against the US dollar during the period under review cushioned fuel prices by over 17 cents per litre”.

The department added that oil prices are higher mainly due to supply disruptions in Canada, Venezuela, Libya, Nigeria and Iraq.

Motorists are urged to use fuel efficiently in these tough economic times.
