City Power: Blame it on the weather

Power issues to be resolved soon

City Power has blamed current low temperatures for the high number of power outages that have plagued Johannesburg recently.

Areas throughout Roodepoort, including Florida, Witpoortjie, Lindhaven and Roodekrans were heavily affected, and have experienced intermittent power outages since the beginning of the month. According to a statement from City Power, their teams have been hard at work and will continue to work on the outages until supply is restored to all affected areas.

They also extended their apologies to all City Power customers for any inconvenience these unplanned outages may have caused. An appeal was made to customers to help reduce the load placed on the existing infrastructure by switching off all non-essential appliances and using electricity sparingly during the winter period.

Customers experiencing power outages can call the City of Johannesburg call centre at 0860 562 874, or log a call on the City Power website at www.citypower.co.za (click on “Fault Logging”).
