Florries success in rugby tournament

Hoërskool Florida’s rugby first team competed in the FNB Classic Clash against Hoërskool Marais Viljoen.

Florries were at home and that showed as Ellie Cameron crossed the try line to register points for his team deep in the first half. However, their joy was short-lived as Marais Viljoen came back with a try of their own to leave matters even heading into half time at 10 points.

In the second half, Florida’s Ruan Oosthuizen scored a try immediately after break, giving his team the edge. As the match was winding down, Marais Viljoen team would not go down without a fight as they scored a try. The game would end at 17-15, with the victory going to Florida. For their hard work during the season, Florida’s first team was awarded with the FNB Classic Clash trophy. In other matches played during the day, the U/16A rugby team was ruthless as they beat their Marais Viljoen opposition 38-20. It was a tight affair in the U/15A match but Florida prevailed 12-3 against Marais Viljoen. In the U/14A match, Florida was runaway victors with a 53-3 win.
