Car burns out on Mouton Road

Cause of fire is unknown.

At about 3.30pm on 6 June, a vehicle inexplicably caught fire on Mouton Road in Horison.

Although the cause of the incident, which took place close to the intersection with Schultz Street, is unknown, a bystander said that a man had taken his vehicle to a mechanic in the area, but before he fetched it the mechanic noticed the fuel tank was nearly empty, and drove to a nearby fuel station. On his way back, the vehicle caught fire. He managed to get out of the vehicle seconds before the fuel tank exploded and set a tree on the centre island alight.

The vehicle burnt out completely.

ER24 attended to the scene. No one was injured.
