Reward for missing drone

Drone flew off on its own.

An Ontdekkers Park resident, Manie Jooste, says he is still in shock after his drone flew off by itself this past Friday.

Jooste said he was busy testing the brand new drone’s centre of gravity, a test that is conducted with the drone hovering a meter above ground, when the incident took place. The drone suddenly ascended and then flew from Vercuil Street in the direction of the Florida CBD. According to Jooste this is a mystery as the drone has a built in fail-safe mechanism which will make it land if it goes too high, flies outside a radius of 1km or if its battery is low.

The drone, which is worth R50 000 with its two Go-Pro cameras, is black with four black propellers. The word ‘airborne’ appears on its top.

Jooste is offering an undisclosed reward for the return of the drone. He can be contacted on 082 552 3561.
