You’ve all been asking: Water restrictions modified

What to expect regarding water restrictions from Joburg Water this winter.

Due to the colder weather conditions the stipulated times when residents are restricted from watering and irrigating gardens have changed.

“Residents are reminded that Level 2 water restrictions are still in place and must be adhered to,” Joburg Water spokesperson Eleanor Mavimbela in a recent press statement said.

According to section 44 (3) of the Water Services Bylaw, Level 2 water restrictions compel residents to; not water and irrigate their gardens from 6am to 6pm daily, not fill swimming pools with municipal water, and, not use hosepipes to wash cars, paved areas and so forth.

However, given the colder weather, Joburg Water announced modifying the garden water and irrigation times to 8am to 4pm, giving residents four extra hours to tend to their gardens.

According to the entity they have received 119 cases to date to investigate for contravening Level 2 restrictions.

“Compliance notices will be issued to all cases,” Mavimbela said.

She invites residents to refer their questions to Joburg Connect on 011 375 5555 or to visit www.johannesburgwater.co.za for more information.
