Colour Run at Trinityhouse Prep

A bright and colourful day for Trinityhouse pupils

More than 600 pupils, staff members and parents of Trinityhouse Preparatory School Little Falls filled the school’s Ellis Park Field as they participated in the Colour Run on Tuesday 26 April.

The event was the idea of Grade 7 pupil Chloe Smith as part of her charity project for the year.

This event also became a fundraising opportunity for the school, with the money collected going towards trees for the school grounds.

Chloe wanted her project to include all the pupils in her school.

She approached the CMH Group of Volvo and Mitsubishi West Rand to sponsor the coloured powder.

“Prefects do charity work and I believe charity starts at home. I wanted to do something different for my charity project. With the help of my family, I went out to find sponsors and arranged with the school to host this event. Organising such an event has not been easy and I felt the pressure of being a leader; but I knew things would go well,” said Chloe.

The preparatory school’s principal Hennie Strydom was eager to have fun with the pupils.

“We started with the Grade 1 pupils running through a guard of honour formed by Grade 7s who threw the powder at them. The distance they had to run around the field was less than a kilometre. Each grade got the opportunity to be in the guard of honour and throw powder, and also be covered in powder. We are so proud of Chloe who has taken on such a huge project and made it a roaring success. The sponsors were incredible and the children would not have had so much fun without all the colour powder they had sponsored,” he said.
