Shots fired in Witpoortjie

Tow trucker alerts police.

At around 10.45pm last night three shots were fired in Witpoortjie by members of the Sector Police.

Members of the Sector Police and West Suburbs Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) were parked at the Engen Garage in Ham Street when a tow trucker alerted them to the fact that he spotted four balaclava wearing men in Corlett Avenue. The Police and patrollers went to investigate and spotted the four suspects at the corner of Ham Street and Corlett Avenue. Two of the men tried to hide on the ground while the other two fled into a field. Realising the men had a firearm the police shot three rounds at them.

After arresting two of the suspects they found that the firearm the men tried to hide in a tree, was in fact a toy gun.

No one was injured during the shooting.
