Rugby Club's take each other on in Pirates league
The Roodepoort Rugby Club took on their neighbours the Randfontein Rugby Club in the fourth round of the Pirates Grand Challenge league this weekend.
Poorte were the away team and after a slow start to the season, needed some points on the log.
However, things did not go as planned as the senior first team narrowly lost 21-15 to Ranfontein.
This leaves the senior team still searching for their first victory in the league.
Poorte’s second team had an easier time on the field as they dispatched their rivals 7-17.
Roodepoort Rugby Club’s third team was even more impressive on the field as they routed Randfontein’s third team 8-29.
Roodepoort’s U/21 team was left smarting after they were beaten in a fair contest by their Ranfontein counterparts.
They lost the match 25-16.
The U/20 team, however, did not disappoint as they went onto the field guns blazing.
In the thrilling match, the margain between defeat and victory was just a single converted try.
Roodepoort managed to hold on for a 14-21 win against their hosts.
