Taxi rear-ends two cars injuring pregnant women and toddler

Eight injured in total.

Eight people were injured this morning (13 April) after a taxi rear-ended two light motor vehicles at the Gordon and Hendrik Potgieter Road intersection.

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene after the taxi driver apparently had lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rear-end two other vehicles at the intersection.

Paramedics found all three vehicles in the one lane of the busy road. They assessed the occupants of all three vehicles and it was found that six from the taxi and two from one of the light motor vehicles had been injured in the collision.

Two injured women from the taxi were about six months pregnant. One of the injured in the light motor vehicle was a young girl, believed to be four years old.

Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to various hospitals for further treatment.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
