Two people were injured yesterday afternoon, one seriously, after a bakkie rear-ended another on Randfontein Road near Leratong Hospital.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene where the bakkie allegedly had rear-ended another vehicle while attempting a U-turn on the road.
They found both vehicles on the side of the road. A male in his 40s in a serious condition was trapped inside his vehicle. Rescue medics from ER24 had to use the Jaws of Life to free him from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated and provided him with advanced life support interventions. He was transported to Netcare Krugersdorp Private Hospital for further treatment.
A second patient was found on scene with only minor injuries. The man was treated and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on scene to investigate the cause of the collision.
