Bad day for Poorte

Poorte lost the match 3-28.

It was a tough Saturday (19 March) for the Roodepoort Rugby Club as they hosted the second friendly match of the season.

Their opponents were the rugby teams from the University of Johannesburg.

This is in preparation for the upcoming Grand Pirates Challenge which starts on 2 April for Poorte away against local rivals Pirates.

The U/21 team was up first in the field and competed against their UJ counterparts but was beaten in the match 14-34.

This match was followed by Poorte’s third team competing against UJ’s third team.

Poorte lost the match 3-28.

The second team was up next on the field however they did not fare any better against the men of UJ.

They lost 8-38 to their visitors. It was then up to the senior team to gain some face for the club after the earlier losses.

But it was not be as the UJ first team showed why they are a force to be reckoned with as they dismantled Poorte 0-48.
