Shooting incident at ‘ghost house’

Police go to the wrong scene.

Yesterday at around 4.30pm West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) received a call from Netcare 911 about a shooting at the ‘ghost house’ on South Road.

On arrival the patrollers were told that police did come to the scene but they already had left. A person on the scene told the patrollers that police never combed the scene. They went to the second floor of the dilapidated house and were told a group of young people were doing a ‘photo shoot’ in the house when the incident took place.

One person was shot in the leg and his camera equipment stolen from him. His friends fled. WSRNW found one spent 9mm cartridge on the floor and called the police again.

Police returned with their forensic team and explained they mistakenly thought the incident took place in the veld and therefore left the first time.
