A furniture store on Albertina Sisulu Road in Roodepoort CBD fell prey to an armed robbery this past weekend; but it did not go as planned for the suspects.
At around 2.30pm three suspects entered the store, pointed their firearms at an employee and demanded cash. The employee gave them the money from the cash drawer as well as three cellphones. The suspects also took the land-line telephone and fled. A security guard and some community members realised what happened and gave chase. They managed to catch two of the suspects and assaulted them.
The suspects were arrested and treated by paramedics on the scene. Afterwards they were taken to Leratong Hospital.
