12 motorists were arrested for drunk driving.

“Things went well,” is what JMPD Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said regarding accidents on Roodepoort roads this festive season.

With various roadblocks stationed around different areas, 11 motorists were arrested for speeding at the N1 before Maraisburg.

The roadblock was organized before Christmas and the top speed was 228 km/h.

On New Year’s Eve, more roadblocks were stationed around Roodepoort.

On the day, 12 motorists were arrested for drunk driving.

“All those arrested were retained at the Florida Police Station. We are pleased with how things went this festive season in regards to our roads,” said Minnaar.

The record arrest for speeding was a motorist caught on the N1 in Midrand for travelling at 249km/h.
