We can replace unashamed incompetence

Dave Dewes hopes for favourable results in 2016's local government elections.

A turnaround in local government is on Ward 70 councillor Dave Dewes‘ wishlist for the new year.

He told the Record a long and hard year is coming to an end for Roodepoorters.

“The economy is under serious strain and our present government is incapable of implementing a workable turnaround strategy.

“Even on the local front it looks dismal, with Pikitup’s illegal strike, power failures, incorrect billing and illegal connections,” Dewes said.

Despite the serious lack of service delivery that has turned Roodepoort’s once-beautiful parks, open spaces and CBDs into decaying spaces, Dewes holds hope that the new year will bring a real possibility of replacing “unashamed incompetence in local government”.

“In May 2016 we will have local government elections; with a competent and accountable DA government in charge of Johanneburg we can change the negative perception of our city — this can become a reality in 2016,” he said.

“I am desperately appealing to every resident of Roodepoort to help us get a mere 120 000 new votes, along with the votes the DA got in the national elections, for local government to change for the better.

“Take up an attainable New Years’ resolution and get involved in the local government campaigns.”

Dewes thanks Our Neighbourhood Florida and the Florida CPF for their dedication, alongside hard working officials and police personnel, in helping manage neighbourhoods in his ward this year.

“God bless you all during this festive period and know it is people like you that keep on providing hope.

“To everybody, drive safely, hug and tell those dynamic people in your life how much you love them and most of all, enjoy this special time of year.”
