Florida’s powercuts not result of loadshedding

The power cuts were also now caused by a blown isolator at the Florida substation.

For the past few days, residents in the Discovery and Florida areas have had power cuts in their homes that lasted about five hours.

Even though residents have thought it was due to load shedding or a possible isolator that blew at the Florida substation, Yumna Sheik, spokesperson for City Power has set the record straight.

“The power cuts were not as a result of a blown isolator but cable faults,” Sheik said.

She added the cables were repaired yesterday, 3 December and is also in the process of being upgraded.

Florida and Discovery residents need not to worry anymore about experiencing any further power cuts.
