Say no to violence for 16 days

How will you celebrate 16 days of activism?

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is an international awareness-raising campaign that has started tday and will run until 10 December.

The campaign was adopted by the country in 1998 as one of the intervention strategies towards creating a society free of violence.

It aims to raise  awareness among South Africans about the negative impact violence has on women and children.

So, how can you show support for these 16 days?

• Wear a white ribbon. The ribbon symbolises peace and commitment from whoever wears it, not to condone violence

• Volunteer at your local non-profit organisatin (NPO) who support women and children who have been abused

• Speak out against women abuse

• Report child abuse to the police

• Encourage children to report bully behaviour to authorities
