Video: Ofentse gets some needed wheels

Red Ants gifts Princess Primary School pupil a wheelchair.

It was an emotional day at Princess Primary School on Monday (23 November) when Ofentse Matlala was gifted with an electronic wheelchair. The grade 3 pupil has been physically challenged since birth and was accepted into the school with the condition.

Although she cannot use her legs to move around the school, she’s had two friends Gomolemo Mlambo and Lesedi Cwele who have been helping her.

They assist her in moving around the school from class to class and to do various other activities.

Heartbroken by the sight, deputy principal Nonhlanhla Ntshikilana and School Governing Body chairperson Bryan Masango contacted various organizations to assist with getting Matlala a wheelchair.

It was the Red Ants who came to the rescue as they purchased a wheelchair to help Matlala.

“It was a heartbreaking story to hear and we the Red Ants just had to do something to help. We want to support Ofentse to become a role model for others who are like her,” said Red Ants’ Mumsey Ponoane.

Mlambo and Cwele who assisted Matlala in school were given the Fellowship Award as a token of gratitude from the school.
