‘No work, no pay’ during Pikitup’s illegal strike

"Please keep your bins inside until further notice."

Pikitup today confirmed the entity is experiencing service delivery interruptions due to an illegal strike at all their depots.

In a press release, Pikitup spokesperson Jacky Mashapu said the entity will institute the principle of ‘no work, no pay’ and will also lock out employees participating in the illegal strike.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure that services are restored as soon as possible,” she said.

“Management remains open to address concerns of employees and organised labour, but for that to happen, workers must first go back to work.

“We encourage employees to make use of the established process for engagement,” Mashapu said.

Mashapu urged residents and business owners to keep bins inside their property until such time that the entity communicates alternative operational arrangement.

“Pikitup apologises for any inconveniences which my be caused as a result of the service delivery interruptions.

“We will provide regular updates on the situation.”
