Capture service delivery and win with CoJ

Taking photos of service delivery in the area could win you tickets to a show, VIP-style.

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is encouraging residents to capture images of true service delivery in their areas — and they could win big, the municipality said.

Last Wednesday (21 October) they launched the #IKnowMyJoburg campaign which seeks to engage residents and youth on service delivery. It runs for a week and will get young people of Roodepoort taking pictures of whatever they see as service delivery in their communities. Giving it a positive caption, residents are then encouraged to use the hashtag #IKnowMyJoburg and post the photo on twitter, @mentioning the @CityofJoburgZA. Locals stand the chance to win double tickets to the upcoming #FillUpTheDome concert, VIP style.

Radio advertisements have to date been broadcast on YFM, UJ FM and Voice of Wits (VoW) to engage audiences.

“The city hopes to create awareness about the good work the municipality is doing, especially in great initiatives like Vulindlel’ejozi and Jozi@Work,” the entity said in a press statement.

“Involving the youth and providing them with knowledge about what service delivery entails also exposes our future leaders to available career opportunities in local government.”

By the end of the campaign CoJ will gather all the photos submitted and choose seven winners, those who captured the best photos and wrote equally inspiring captions.
