Update: ‘Police was wrong’

Florida Police still unavailable for comment.

According to Roodepoort Police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Khumalo, both Roodepoort Police Station as well as Florida Police Station was at fault when they refused to open a case for an assault victim.

This comes after a 39-year-old woman from Georginia, Elise Pieterse, was severely assaulted last Friday night. Pieterse immediately went to hospital to be treated and get a medical report. There after she went to Roodepoort Police Station where she was told they could not open a case since she did not know the suspect. She then went to Florida Police Station but was told the same.

Khumalo said she would investigate and contact Pieterse.

Neither Florida Police Station‘s spokesperson or station commander could be reached for comment.
