Roodepoort crimes stats looking bleak

Violent crimes still high.

Crime in the area is still out of control with Roodepoort murders having only gone down with nine per cent (from 94 to 86) between 2014 and 2015 and Florida’s murder rate rising with a shocking 40 per cent (from nine to 15).

When it comes to sexual offences Florida has spiked with 13 per cent but Roodepoort is down from 225 to 169 (25 per cent). Atempted murders are down in both areas, in Roodepoort with 22 per cent and Florida with a measly 14 per cent. Serious assault has dropped in Roodepoort from 614 to 502 and in Florida it is up from 263 to 281. Robbery with aggravated circumstances has gone up in Roodepoort from 808 to 856 and in Florida from 448 to 573. Residential burglaries are down wit 11 per cent in Roodepoort and down with 18 per cent in Florida.

Although residents complain about the drug situation in these areas drug related crimes in Roodepoort has dropped six percent and in Florida dropped by 13 per cent which is a slight but insignificant amount. It also seems certain resident still do not heed the ‘do not drink and drive’ call with driving under the influence in Roodepoort up from 170 to 312 and and in Florida from 120 to 198. Carjackings are down from 138 to 129 in Roodepoort but in Florida it is up from 73 to 119.

Other shocking facts the crime statistics revealed is that country wide 49 murders are commited per day and 49 murders that took place in the past year have been committed by children between 10 and 17 year olds.
