Pensioners brutally assaulted

Images of suspects captured on CCTV.

A pensioner in his 70’s and his wife, in her 60’s, were brutally attacked with a brick yesterday afternoon.

The incident took place in Marula Street, Lindhaven. Four suspects entered the premises at about 1pm. They first assaulted the two pensioners with a brick and then tied them up. They fled with a small amount of goods which included cell phones and a laptop. Footage of the suspects were captured on the CCTV cameras of a house opposite their property.

When the Record visited the scene at about 3pm the neighbours said they have been waiting for the Emergency Management Services (EMS) for two hours. It is uncertain when it did eventually arrive and what their condition currently is. It is the second time in one year the two elderly people fell pray to a crime.

Roodepoort Police’s spokesperson Nonhlanhla Khumalo could not be reached for comment.
