Joburg Water promises to quench parched Witpoortjie

A team of Joburg Water technicians investigating valves in lower Witpoortjie today.

After being without water on an on-and-off basis since Heritage Day last week, Joburg Water this morning committed to quenching parched residents.

Initial reports seem to indicate the low or non-existent water pressure lies in Ext 13 and 14 which is being investigated by a team today (Tuesday 29 September), after the Record intervened. Last night and this morning the suburb again experienced low water pressure.

Spokesperson David Sibiya said he had been in contact with Hamberg depot that services the area and they are trying to detect where the issue originates.

“They went to inspect valves today in terms of low pressure experienced by the community,” he told the Record.

“There is clearly a challenge here, especially during peak usage hours — on weekends.”

Sibiya committed the utility to finding a solution, and fast.

“We undertake to monitor the area and come up with interventions to resolve the issue,” he said.

He committed to updated the Record on a regular basis about developments.
