The club operates Mondays to Thursday from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.

Champions Boxing Academy, a non-profit organization (NPO) in Maraisburg hosted a boxing tournament this weekend.

The academy, which helps more than 100 children in the area invited boxers from clubs such as Booysens, Eldorado Park and Hugenote Boxing Clubs.

There were no empty seats as the audiences cheered for their favourite boxers and were left at the edge of their seats as they were treated to 11 bouts.

Champions Boxing Academy has been operating in Maraisburg for four years and free of charge to the communities of Lenasia, Soweto, Eldorado Park, Bosmont, Westbury, Newclare, Fordsburg and Florida.

The Academy helps underprivileged children by providing adequate sporting, training and competitive opportunities on an international level.

They also provide educational, study groups and support, psychological counseling and guidance services in addition to the daily feeding scheme initiatives.

“We support children from impoverished homes with educational material and tutoring. I would just like to thank all of our sponsors who have helped us host such a fantastic tournament,” said Champions Boxing Academy Coordinating Manager Ra’ees Khan.
