Update: Drug bust suspects released unconditionally

Public Prosecuter orders further investigation.

The plot surrounding Tuesday’s big drug bust thickens as Florida Police has confirmed the four suspects have been released unconditionally.

The Record wanted to know why the suspects were not charged, did not appear in court and was released unconditionally.

According to police spokesperson Lydia Dikholomelo, she has personally studied the ‘specific comments’ of the Public Prosecutor on the docket. The Public Prosecutor has ordered the release of the four suspects pending further investigation. This regardless of the fact that R45 000’s worth of drugs was found in the suspects’ flat. Dikholomelo said she could not divulge the Prosecutor’s comments since it could jeopardise the investigation.

She also explained that the suspects did not appear in court in the first place due to the docket arriving late at Roodepoort Magistrates Court and it therefore not having been placed on the court roll.

The Record will keep its readers updated.
