Councillor dispels rumours about clinic

The Davidsonville Community Clinic is in Minnaar Street and can be contacted on 011 763 5932.

A simple blood pressure test in the local clinic disproved a resident’s earlier complaint that the clinic is non-functional.

Ward 71 councillor Gert Niemand invited the Record on a small tour through Davidsonville Community Clinic, that was upgraded in 2013, to set the record straight.

Residents complained to the Record earlier in July that the clinic is non-functional, staff not even being able to take blood pressure because they lack machinery.

“Does it looks like there’s a problem here?” Niemand asked after he and the media received a warm greeting upon entering. The building was very clean and the Record was taken through its entirety, including the medicine storage room.

“This could easily be called one of Region C’s greater accomplishments over the last couple of years, in my opinion.”

Niemand tested the clinic’s functionality by asking sister Catherine Mathi to take his blood pressure for him. She didn’t so much as blink at the request and within 10 minutes he had his blood pressure results and a scolding to take better care of himself, he joked.
