Criminals hit again in Witpoortjie

The suspects gained access by bending the spikes on top of the wall facing the street and then smashing a large window.

Despite the valiant efforts of the Community Policing Forum, security companies and the Western Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch, Witpoortjie is still bogged down by crime.

Yesterday at about 3am a resident in Corlett Road, close to Strydom Street, saw a suspect scaling the wall of his neighbour. Shortly afterwards he heard breaking glass. Being a member of WSRNW he immediately called for help on the two-way radio.

WSRNW was on the scene within minutes, alongside Dowry Security. By the time the Record arrived at 4pm, neither the police or the owner were on the scene yet. It could not be established what goods were stolen and how many suspects there were.
