Bullseye for Inyala club

Inyala Archery Club came back successful from the Open Gauteng Schools competition.

Inyala Archery Club beat seven schools to take first place in the Open Gauteng Schools competition last week.

The team with the highest scores included Gustav Stierlin, Magdel Wilhelm, Deidre van der Merwe, Hendrè du Toit, Zandrè du Toit, Marichelle Maritz, Febè Groenewald, Luhan Wolmarans, William Wilson, Francois du Rand, Ewan Stander and Hein Barnard.

Three team members were chosen as the best junior archers of the day.

Magdel Wilhelm received a gold medal in the girl’s category, Gustav Stierlin received a silver medal in the boy’s category and Deidre van der Merwe got a bronze medal in the girl’s category.

Last month, the club participated in the Gauteng Inter-Schools tournament hosted at the St. Vincent School for the Deaf in Melrose.

More than 3000 archers were present and Inyala managed to finish in second position overall.

Francois du Rand was the star of the day as he took first place for the best junior archer of the day in the boy’s category.

Magdel Wilhelm was awarded third place for the best junior archer of the day in the girl’s category.

Inyala Archery Club will now be preparing for the Gauteng provincial championships next month at Riebeeck Rand in Randfontein.
