VIDEO: Lion Park victim did not heed warnings

The attack was the second this year at the park.

The tourist who was killed by a lion at the Lion Park in Honeydew yesterday, disregarded the numerous explicit warnings according to spokesperson Scott Simpson.

Simpson said the woman and her male companion was driving in Camp Two with their vehicle’s windows down. When they stopped to take a photograph the lioness allegedly slowly approached the car and grabbed her by the neck through the window.

Her companion tried to avert the attack but was also injured.

Simpson said the emergency services were quickly on the scene but the woman, believed to be in her 30’s, passed away.

He highlighted the fact that there are almost 40 signs warning visitors to keep their windows rolled up, including some that convey the message in pictures.

He also said the lioness would not be euthanised but moved to another property the park owns. People who took to social media expressed their horror but mostly agreed that the lion should not be killed.
