One dead, 240 injured in train crash

Netcare 911, ER24, Quick Response Services (QRS) and other services responded to a train accident scene in Denver this morning.

This after a train rear-ended a stationary train at the Denver Station before 9 am.

Paramedics assessed and treated commuters after multiple people sustained injuries during the crash, Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann in a press statement said.
“One person was entrapped in the wreckage and paramedics performed an extrication operation to have her freed,” Steinmann said.
“Another person tragically lost their life during the accident.”

Search and rescue
“The Police K9 Unit will complete a search operation to ensure that all occupants have been removed, assessed and treated,” Steinmann in a press statement at 9.18 am said.
“Most of the injured patients have been treated at the scene and were transported to various hospitals by Netcare 911, provincial services and other services.”

“The entrapped occupant has now been removed from the wreckage and have been airlifted to hospital for the urgent medical treatment required,” Steinmann in a press statement said.
