Is it my imagination or are more and more animals getting lost in the area?

If I look at facebook, and I do every day, it seems as if people are struggling to hold on to their dogs and cats. Don’t get me wrong, I am not blaming the owners, but it seems as if animals go astray with or without help from others.

With Krugersdorp SPCA closing its doors more burden are placed on other organisations such as Claw (Community Led Animal Welfare) and Fora (Friends of Rescued Animals) as well as the Roodepoort SPCA.

I also read on Facebook that, for instance, Yorkies are becoming a very popular breed and it is said that they are stolen because they cost so much money. I am not sure if I can believe the rumours but it remains a major concern that the dogs are disappearing. I would like to extend a invitation to all animal owners out there, if your animal has gone missing, please let me know.
