Update: Metrobus on the future safety of passengers

Clinic offers trauma counselling.

Serious questions about the safety of Metrobus passengers has once again been raised after another violent robbery took place on a Metrobus this morning leading to two people being shot.

Two similar incidents took place in 2013 in the same area.

In a short reply to an enquiry by the Record, Metrobus spokesperson Esther Dreyer said the police and Metro Police have both offered their assistance regarding the safety of the passengers. On the very early and very late busses officers will either be posted on the bus or will be following the bus.

Dreyer also said Florida Clinic has offered trauma counselling to the passengers who was on bus R430 this morning.

It also came to light that there are CCTV cameras owned by the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) in the area that might have captured footage of the incident but Sanral spokesperson Vusi Mona could not be reached for comment.
