Jaque Fourie at Hoërskool Bastion

Former Spirngboks centre and local resident Jaque Fourie paid a visit to Hoërskool Bastion yesterday.

He was giving tips to the school’s rugby teams as they prepare to face Hoërskool Zwartkop from Pretoria this weekend. Fourie, who currently plays in Japan for Kobe Steel Kobelco Steelers is back home because he and his wife Kelly are expecting the birth of their first child.

“Playing in Japan is a joy, the country is beautiful and has amazing cities like Tokyo. Unfortunately I didn’t sight see much but what we did see of the country was beautiful. I am happy to be back home,” he said.

Most pupil were hanging around the field, sneaking peeks at the rugby player and hoping to take a picture with him or get his autograph.

Other students went to the extreme and had the player autograph their cellphones.
