Rhino horn dealt by Roodepoort police captain

The Record confirmed this with a trusted judiciary source, who said the case will be dealt with in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

The policeman was arrested by members of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (commonly referred to as the Hawks).

This after a runaround between the different police spokespeople for Roodepoort and Honeydew and various other sources to confirm the facts.

The captain is believed to be in his late 40s. Warrant officer Nonhlanhla Khumalo, Roodepoort police spokesperson, said she could not comment on the facts as he ranks higher than her.

The Record was referred to provincial spokespeople who have committed to providing further information at a later stage.
