Bike accident leaves teen critical

A 13-year-old-boy has been rushed to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital after he was hit by a motorbike on Maraisburg Road in Bosmont yesterday afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the young patient in the slow lane of the road. The motorbike was lying roughly 30 metres away.

Paramedics found the patient had sustained severe injuries to his head and chest. They had to provide advanced life support to stabilise the patient’s vital signs. Once treated, the patient was transported to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The driver of the motorcycle fortunately sustained only minor injuries. The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
