“I came, I danced, I conquered” is where Icidic dance studio, located at Honey nightclub gets its name from.

The studio, where instructor Lance Booysen works his magic on the dance floor is gearing up for its official grand opening next month.

“Dance has been my passion for as long as I remember and I’ve been taught by the best dancers in the world so this is my way of giving back to the community,” said Booysen.

The studio is open the community of all ages who want to learn how to dance in a family orientated environment.

“Dancing is a form of therapy so why not spend a bit of time here in our studios, having fun and release all the stress from work,” said Booysen.

The studio currently teaches ballroom, Latin American and contemporary dance. Those who want to stay in shape can also sign up for the Zoomba fitness classes.

The dance studio has been operational since December last year and already has 20 members but with the official grand opening next month, more are expected to join.

“Our studio is unique in that people can come and watch how I conduct a class then decide if they want to sign up. And there are no long contracts that bind people, some can sign up for a month and use the studios for as much as they want for that period,” said Booysen.

Caitlyn Abrahams (12) is a member of the dance studio and she joined because of her love for dancing.

“With dancing I can express myself because it’s what I love to do. My favourite dance is the cha-cha since it’s very energetic and fun. I would love to take dancing further,” she said.

Eight-year-old Skyler Vergie has been dancing for two years and also joined the studio to learn more about the art.

“It’s the only thing I can do and I love it when we dance the tango because it’s nice, I can’t explain how dancing makes me feel,” said Skyler.
