Team effort leads to two arrests

Suspect tried to evade cops by hiding in roof.

Cooperation between the police, neighbourhood watch and security companies once again proved to be essential in fighting crime.

At just past noon today the Roodepoort police, Helderkloof Neighbourhood Watch (HKNW) and various security companies were alerted to a house robbery in Melon Street, Helderkruin, according to Dowry Security manager Bruce Webster.
On arrival the two suspects tried to flee and although captured at first by Roodepoort police officers and members of one of the security companies the suspect managed to escape again but was apprehended by HKNW. The second suspect fled back to the house and hid in the roof through which they initially accessed the house. Both the police and members of one of the security companies entered the roof but could not find him. On a second attempt Dowry Security officer Glen Nagel did find the suspect in the roof and he too was handed over to the police.
Both suspects are being held at Roodepoort police station.
