Over R201k donated to charity
A Muslim community organisation donates to charity twice a year.
Enriching the community is a top priority for Crescent Lifestyle.Early in September five organisations operating on the West Rand, other parts of Johannesburg as well as nationally benefited from Crescent Lifestyle’s donations that were handed over during a ceremony.
The organisation also made previous donations this year. Since 2008 the organisation has donated over R2,2 million to local charities.
Crescent Lifestyle is a Muslim-based community organisation that connects, benefits and supports its members with religious and lifestyle information, discounts and other benefits.
“The difference these contributions have made is visible in the projects the beneficiaries have run and completed so devotedly,” says Wasiela Ally, organisation representative.
“We want to share the joy of giving with our subscribers on the West Rand since some of our beneficiaries do great work in their areas.”
This September the Ikageng Itereleng Aids Ministry (Soweto), Gift of the Givers (Fordsburg), Baitul Ilm (Eldorado Park), Al-Imdaad Foundation (the United Kingdom) and the Sultan Bahu Centre (Fordsburg) each received a share of R201 287. The funds donated partially were made up of membership fees.
“To the different charities our donations meant they could provide school uniforms to children, complete the Adelaide Tambo School for the Physically Challenged in Soweto, fund their winter warmer campaigns as well as campaigns for destitute women and children.”
The managing director of Crescent Lifestyle, Al-Firnas Patel visited some of the beneficiaries in Eldorado Park, Bosmont and Lenasia during the year.
“We are grateful for our members’ trust,” says Patel.
“In the end we’re only helping our members to take what is in their hearts and place it in the hands of those they would like to help the most.”
