Water crisis continues

Johannesburg Water (JW) says although water supply has been restored in some suburbs, problems still are being experienced in others.

Large parts of southern and western Johannesburg have been without water for several days following a power outage at one of Rand Water’s main pumps last week.

Hundreds of frustrated residents spent most of the weekend without water.

JW’s Millicent Kabwe says there are still problems at some reservoirs and they can’t say when water will be restored to the affected areas.

“We’ve made great strides over the weekend but there is still more work to be done,” she adds.

Rand Water attributes the widespread shortages to high demands due to warmer weather conditions.
