Roodepoort CPF highlights its objectives

Two executive committee members tell of the Roodepoort CPF's dream for a safer community.

It is of utmost importance for the Roodepoort CPF executive committee to turn their vision into a reality.

The Roodepoort CPF is a team of “vibrant, united and dedicated individuals that are willing to face the huge challenge of representing the community alongside the police,” according to new exco chairperson Leon Vieira.

“Each of the members is passionate to make a success in their various portfolios.”

In the following few weeks structure, administration and legal documentation will be put in place for the CPF. Executive committee members Margaret Roodt and Vieira explain the forum’s objectives and focus for 2014.

The forum is dedicated to establishing, promoting and maintaining public participation between the community and the police. They wish to promote effective communication and cooperation between the community and police in fulfilling policing needs.

“We aim to improve the transparency and accountability of the Roodepoort Police to the community,” says Vieira.

“Furthermore we will ensure joint problem identification and resolution between the police and community.”

The forum is to develop and support projects that will improve the rendering of policing services to the community at both station and sub-forum levels. They will work to support and advise the station commander and his or her delegates with regard to all matters pertaining to community policing. Roodt looks forward to realise these objectives.

“This is a huge responsibility and we need residents’ continued support to make this a success, ultimately, make Roodepoort a safer area.”
