School fight attracts mob of 150+ pupils
Hoërskool Die Burger's pupils are trash, says witness.
A large crowd of approximately 150 pupils (allegedly from Hoërskool Die Burger) gathered in the school’s vicinity to cheer on a fight that took place in the middle of a street, according to an eyewitness.
This comes in the wake of a fight between two female pupils two weeks ago that left one requiring brain surgery.
According to the eyewitness the crowd gathering in Centurion Street was so large that she could not determine the sex of the two who were fighting.
When she tried to intervene the crowd became hostile and her husband advised her to go to the safety of their home.
“I can not believe it. These people are trash. I could write a book about the number of fights that had taken place here in the past 12 years,” says the witness.
By the time the Record found out about the fight, the school could not be reached for comment.
There is obviously no dissiplin in the school at at the pupils homes.This is a disgrace !!!
All one can say is that the system has failed our youth. By sparing the rod we have spoiled our children.
In the old days if the fight had happened on school property the principle would have cained the participants, or if the fight happened off school property SAPF would have administered the necesary corporal punishment.
As such in the days of my youth we never had these sort of events. We had respect for authority as well as each other, something sadly missing in todays youth!
Bring back corporal punishment so that young people learn to respect others as well as themselves. We are bringing up a generation of hooligans that have no repect for anyone!
I grew up in the Whiteridge area, were in Die Burger School 1975 -1979 and it was a excellent school with only the best in education and sport. The school has deteriorated so much with schoolkids coming from the coloured areas with gangs and the Head master Basie smit with no control over the kids. We do not have a bell outside the house because the schoolkids destroys everything. It is so sad to see such a eautiful school been reduced to nothing.
Just want to say if the police do something immediately after cases is reported the children will be warned and this kind of behaviour would not happen had the same problem and no help from school department of education or police station
I’m currently the head boy of Hoërskool Die Burger, and just want to say that the school has a working dissipline system, our education is on a good standard. I honestly don’t think people from outside can judge! When kids fight its their decision to do so. This fight did not happen on school grounds, so I don’t think it is the schools problem. This is the first fight in a very long time – no need to write a book hey?
First of all the parents are to blame and second the school aswell..where in ur right mind can a high school pupil tell a grown up adult male that he will beat me up and show me how its done..these kids need to grow up and also know that which you live by you will die by..
Wow first fight in a long time…so 2-3 weeks ago is a long time ago for u…seriously dude. The last fight had a girl ended up in a life threatening brain surgery…so because u are head boy y dont u change the way your fellow pupils are acting?make a plan and action it…bet u if one of your fellow school pupils had in for u and beat u up that u ended up with brain surgery u would also write a book…and u will no longer be headboy u will be scaredboy.. parents should teach the kids the value of life and some respect for themselfs and others around them. Teenagers of 2day think they rule the schools and its a kindergarden….u guys should wake uo and smell the coffee life on the outside is no joke u will end up in prison at the age of 12 for the rest of your life. U supposed to be enjoying school and respect your school friends not beat each other to death. And for the school best u get someone who can control the kids instead of worring more about body building and just going to work to earn the salaries….
@ Renee ur statement is pure nonsense.. “The school has deteriorated so much with schoolkids coming from the coloured areas with gangs and the Head master Basie smit with no control over the kids” all children fight.. if you can recall the incident at krugersdorp high where a WHITE child brought a sword to school.. or a recent video where white adults fought at school because of a fight between their kids. mmm. So think before you speak. The reason these things happen is because there is no discipline at home and the poor teachers aren’t allowed to discipline the kids. Punishment in schools should be brought back. And we as parents should teach our kids proper morals.
carilyn potgieter please note the sword incident was not at krugersdorp high school, but i do agree with you it has to be bad parenting or up bringing. they are taught that violence is the answer.
@Renee if you racist that’s your own problem but get use to it, I’m a coloured guy who came from that school and can say that you don’t ever generalize people like that ever!!!! That school is good and whether it is a white, black, coloured, or Indian pupil everyone fights so get your facts together because you were probably the main girl who fought in your primitive times at the school!!!!
Hi I’m a highschool die burger pupil and I’d like to say badmouthing our principle like that u people have no idea what happens on school premises…he ɪ̣̝̇
S strict he dissiplinces us with the help of mr bezuidenhout…highschool die burger may seem like a bad school from the outside but its the pupils …like it was said teenagers get aggressive ..for no reason at all its being handled…but as I said our teachers and principles are doing a very hard job at trying to show people that our school isint the only school with fights ..and so on remember its not the school its the pupils …well only some of them
I’m a graduate from Highschool Die Burger year 2007 – that’s the year i passed Matric. I must say, for the last couple of years since i left the school became more and more out of control, they say that the school is not responsible for fights outside school grounds but its still kids from that school thats fighting – like that girl that had to undergo brain surgery – COMMON PEOPLE THATS SERIOUS!!!! dont you think the problem starts when they are in school grounds but just fight outside not to get in trouble. I would definitely think something is wrong that it turned out to be this bad!!!!
