Drugs in Florida continues; Police now desperate

Station commander makes desperate plea to public.

The Florida South African Police Service (SAPS) has made a desperate plea to its community to come forward with information that might lead to arrests considering the drug problem in the area still continues.

Florida SAPS Station Commander Colonel Cassie Rautenbach announced that, “For the police to can resolve serious challenges with regards to drugs, we need to form an intensive partnership with the community.

“We request that the community and the general public assist us with giving information that will assist in resolving crimes related to drugs.

“A person may remain anonymous when giving information over the phone. To hide your number or identity when calling from your cell phone one should first dial #31# and the number that you intend to dial and from the landline dial #31# and the number. Information will be treated with

strict confidentiality,” Rautenbach said.

Captain Lydia Dikolomela of Florida SAPS also informed the Record that during the recent successes of Operational Plan Sekalekhekhe from the time period, Friday 26 July to Saturday 27 July, police made 18 arrests of which 11 were drug related.

Of that 11, 10 were charged for being in possession of drugs while the 11th suspect was charged with being in possession of at least four packets of dagga. The remaining eight suspects that totals 18 arrests were charged with crimes such as theft and fraud, drunken driving of a motor vehicle, for being in possession of ammunition, for being in possession of suspected stolen property, for being in the country illegally and for murder as well as for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
