According to recent Beeld reports, a survivor of the accident on William Nicol Road in June is planning to sue the company to which the truck belonged that caused the entire pile-up.

Johnny Perreira made it publicly known that he is planning to sue NCJS Construction owner, John Manlangu to whom the truck belongs. Perreira, a business owner from Springs, was travelling with a passenger on this road when the collision occurred. It cost Perreira R15 000 to have his vehicle towed from the scene on the day of the accident. Reports say that Perreira is committed to gathering a committee of William Nicol survivors to sue Manlangu for negligence.

Manlangu admitted to not having the vehicle insured because he could not afford it. He also confirmed investigation reports that the brakes of the truck were not faulty and that the collision was caused by the driver not using the brakes, as Beeld reported. Manlangu has not communicated much with the driver in question.

“The police are communicating with him.

“To my knowledge, the truck was not the problem that day,” Manlangu allegedly said.

The Record approached Lieutenant Colonel Dlamini, provincial spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS) to ascertain whether a docket has been opened. As Dlamini was quoted incorrectly on this in other publications, he promised the Record an official press release on the matter.

Dlamini is calling on all eyewitnesses and involved parties to speak to the SAPS about the matter. To give your report of the accident, please contact investigating officer Edward Mbambala on 082 721 9118 or visit the Florida Police Station.
