TV weekly must watch

Have a good laugh at a biting comedy series, sit on the edge of your seat with a new true-crime documentary or watch a social drama that deals with real events and issues.

Unwinding a marriage is never-ending in this refreshingly honest comedy series. Ex-spouses Frances (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Robert (Thomas Haden Church) are living independent lives … but they still share an emotional and day-to-day connection through their children. As the season begins, Frances has moved into an NYC apartment, but soon realizes she may have to settle for a “job” in the wake of a fire at her Hastings gallery. Meanwhile, Robert’s new life with Jackie (Becki Newton) is moving forward at an unexpectedly rapid pace, leading him to question whether he has it in him to start all over again with a new family. Comedy-drama Divorce S3 returns to Showmax for its third and final season.

How far would you go to solve the murder of someone you loved? In the new Netflix original documentary, Why Did You Kill Me?, one woman takes the investigation into her daughter’s tragic death into her own hands — even if it means breaking the law herself. This new project explores the police and personal investigation into the death of Crystal Theobald, a 24-year-old woman who was brutally killed in a 2006 drive-by gang shooting in California.

The Red Room is set in a therapist office in Istanbul, where we see vulnerable women who pass through to get treatment and handle their traumas and problems. The series tells us various striking stories, which are built around the fact that our past experiences can have a major impact on our future if we do not deal with these stories. Thursdays and Fridays from 6:30pm on SABC 3.
