How to make sure you get a good night’s sleep

There are several home remedies you can try before reaching for the sleeping pills.

GETTING through the day is sometimes hard enough, never mind trying to make it to knock-off time if you’ve only had three hours’ sleep.

TRY THE FOLLOWING:

  • No daytime naps – that means not using your lunch break to catch a few zzzzs
  • A warm bath at bedtime – a relaxing soak in your favourite bubble bath will help you unwind
  • No coffee or alcohol after 2pm. Both are stimulants which could disturb your sleep pattern
  • A regular bedtime – train your body to know when it’s time to sleep
  • A talking book – nothing like a carefully chosen, professionally-read story to lull you into drowsiness
  • Lavender – long known for its soothing properties, a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow could be all you need

Happy dreams!
