Gert Sibande Stars and Media Awards launch with fanfare
The awards are a way for local artists to gain exposure and be applauded for their work.
The first annual Gert Sibande Stars and Media awards launched amid celebrations at the Cassim Park Hall on Saturday afternoon.
This comes after the Khetlin Organisation, founder and organiser of the awards, supported by the Gert Sibande District Municipality and various government entities, saw a need to motivate and provide a platform for local artists and cultural groups to showcase their talent.
The awards are a way for local artists to gain exposure and be applauded for their work.
Many nominated artists and groups from various categories ranging from gospel music and hip hop to maskandi performed with gusto,
The awards will be held at the Gert Sibande District Municipality on 27 May.
