Artists showcase their uniqueness

Cultural groups participate in the Standerton art exhibition.

A fashion show and art exhibition where local designers, cultural groups and crafters showcased their work, were held at the Standerton Town Hall on 24 May.

The Lekwa Arts and Culture Forum, funded by the Department of Arts and Culture, organised the competition.

“This event can help us to identify local talent and help them in getting the necessary exposure,” Ms Thobile Mogale, principal cultural officer of the department, said.

The winner in the designer category received an industrial sewing machine and all the crafters received R200 for participating.

Some groups who took part were from Dipaliseng Municipality.

Black Pearl was the winner in the designers category and Kuyasasakhile, a local cultural group, as well as Amageza Abomvu, a cultural group from Morgenzon, received uniforms from the department.
