Rayton-tavern shootout leaves two people seriously injured

The suspects fled the scene with cell phones, liquor and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Two people were wounded when gunmen opened fire on a tavern in Rayton last night, November 5.

The three armed men approached Station Tavern in the dark while it was load shedding at about 21:30 and began shooting while they were still outside.

Once inside, the robbers ordered the customers to lie down.

In the process, the 45-year-old owner was shot multiple times in his torso and a woman was shot in the leg.

Both the victims were transported to hospitals.

According to Const Connie Moganedi, corporate communication officer for the Cullinan Police, the suspects fled the scene with cell phones, liquor and an undisclosed amount of cash.
